CROSS THIS OUT HOT PADS

Thank you for joining me today to make this hot pad as a quick Christmas gift.
This is the second in the series of hot pads that I have made for friends for Christmas.
I chanced on these gorgeous patterns and I think these will work beautifully for the use I intend them for. That said this pattern can be used in a multitude of ways.

What I loved about this project is that we work with front and back loops all through - so the back of work is very neat , without any holes or spaces.
There is trc (triple/treble crochet) used as well
This also makes it a little 'bulky' in a way.  You just have to make it to know what I mean.
That said, the whole project base is in single crochet, so it does take time to 'grow'.

Triple Crochet : trc : wrap yarn twice around hook, insert hk into st ; yo (4 lps on hk); [yo, draw through 2 lps] three times.  One trc made.

Chainless start for Triple / Treble Crochet : I dislike the ch-2 / ch – 3 start, and this is what I do to start my row of trc.

The pattern uses a simple stitches in a special way to make it look like a lot more work than it is and once you get the pattern going, you can just carry on and make it to any size.

I worked mine till I had a 6" x 6" (or 15 cm) square and I find that the thickness of the pattern/project will make it ideal as hot pads.
Of course, there is the option of using them as doilies or table decoration too.
