Materials used : Today I’ve used (Indian) polyester purse yarn with a 4 mm crochet hook ; key ring
General yarn info : The yarn used today is not specific to this pattern.
You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.
International yarns : Among the international yarns I have used in this thickness, I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn.

Instruction information
Please note that I start all rows with a ch 1 turning chain for ease.

How to turn a foundation Single Crochet row into a round :
https://youtu.be/DwkKgtGaJMYWe start with a row of foundation single crochet sts (fsc) and then turn around at the end and work under them to create an oval
Start Row /Round 1 : with 15 fsc ; Turn and work 3 sc in the 1st fsc ;
work 1 sc in each fsc till the last fsc ;
work 3 sc in the last fsc ;
and join with a sl-st to the 1st st.
Before we move on, let's place markers at each end.
Place one marker in the centre st of the 3-sc set on each end.
Round 2 : sc in each st till one st before the marked st ;
[2 sc in that st (before marked st) ; sc in marked st ; 2 sc in the next st] ;
sc in each st till one st before the next marked st ;
rep [to] once ;
and continue over the 1st st without joining (working like we do with spirals).
Move markers to the centre st again.
Note : What does working in spirals mean?
When we work in amigurumi, what do we do? We try to avoid that joint line, right?
So we're doing the same thing here.
If you have not done amigurumi before then you're still confused, so I'll clarify.
When you reach that last st where you would usually join, you just continue on to the 1st st without joining. Just on this round it may seem a bit weird but it works out.
What you do need to do though is place a marker on that 1st st so you know how many rounds you are working.
Got that? Now go ahead and rep Round 2 three times
When you come to the last round and are at the centre stop and knot your yarn up.
We need a very long bit of yarn now as we're going to add the two 'leg' bits of the bow. (Are they called 'legs' or tails? well, I'm sure you know what I mean)
So what I did was make loop my full ball of yarn through so I got the knot (as against cutting the yarn and knotting the last st)
Making the two bow "legs"/ "tails" :
Work a fsc chain of 10 fsc ; turn and work sc all the way back , sl st in the same st as you started your fsc chain (on the main bow) ;
sl-st into the next st (on the main bow) and work the 2nd leg with 10 fsc ; turn and work sc all the way back and then sl-st in the same st on the main bow.
Note : In case you are unable to make a fsc chain from this point, work as many chain as you need for your tail and then work hdc in each ch all the way back to the main bow and repeat for the 2nd tail / leg
Making the knot in between the bow :
Without breaking a step, let's make that knot between the bow. So once again knot your yarn at the last st of the bow (after that last sl-st) by passing your full yarn ball through. Then work a few rounds around the bow, ensuring you pass between the legs / tail of the bow
We are not yet done - we need to make the tie for our luggage tag.
So once you are happy with the knot in-between, once again knot that bit up and bring your yarn to the top of the knot and let's work a chain.
I have worked 75 chain and then looped it back and attached it with a sl-st to the 1st st (i.e. from where we start the chain on the bow)
Proudly display your luggage tag and be sure that you'll never lose your luggage !
Optional ideas :
1) You could add one row of a contrast color along the last row. If you decide to do this, the knot in the centre can be in the contrast color too. You can also decide to work sl-st along the edge of the 'legs'/tail in contrast color.
2) Add a big button or bead in the centre instead of the knot. The 'advantage' of the knot is that it cinches the creation and makes the bow - but you could cinch it with the yarn ; work the chain and then add the bead and further cinch it while sewing the bead on.
Go ahead and let just your imagination be your limitation!
