BEAUTIFUL CROCHET CHOKER – 4
Dancing dolls 1

Just from the title of this blog, you will know that I have three earlier similar blogs.  Working off those ideas, I thought of this one, that (after completion) looked a little like little dancing dolls.
If you don’t see the dolls (as yet) read on and see how you can work this one.

Thank you for joining me.

In case you have just joined me, know that you can access all of my earlier creations by checking under ‘categories’ on the right hand side of this blog under “Labels”.  Then, for your convenience, follow me here or on Facebook, You Tube, Pinterest, Twitter or Instagram.

Oh, and may I add that the fastest way to find any of my blogs is via Pinterest.

All my blogs can be printed.  Find the printer friendly (green) link at the bottom of this blog.  You can also hit Control P (or Command P for Mac) on your keyboard, and the blog will go directly to the connected printer.

Remember that you only print if absolutely essential.  Save paper – Save Our Earth.

Do remember to add my blog URL when you make and show off your creation.

Just copy the link on the search bar above - that's the blog URL.

This is a free blog - so do pay it forward for me.  Cheers.

Materials used : Today I’ve used the lovely Indian Anchor knitting cotton yarn with a 1.3 mm crochet hook ; a chainbeads, if needed ; glue to seal ends.
For Indians : You could use Red ros or unbranded knitting cotton as well

Instruction information
For this project we will start with a fsc row first, and work the top part of our choker.  We will then work in the shells at the bottom, and then work back around the top with a few picots making it look like little dancing dolls around your neck.

I saw the dancing doll ‘effect’ only after I completed the picots and took a photograph, so not only will I tell you what I have done, but also how to try and get them to dance for you ;)

Foundation Single Crochet : fsc : To refresh your skill on the fsc, please view this video https://youtu.be/mcT85fwh4mA

Start with fsc in multiples of 4 for the length needed around the neck.  Turn.

Row 1 : dc in the 1st fsc ;
*sk next 3 fsc ; 5 dc in the next fsc* ;
rep *to* till the last 4 fsc,
sk next 3 fsc, dc in the last fsc.  Turn.

You are now at one end of your fsc chain, so you will turn your work around, and we will now work on the other side of your fsc chain for the picots.

We will work a ch-3 picot which is (ch 3, sl-st in the 3rd ch from hk)

Here I am going to give instructions first for what I have done, and then instructions for a 2nd way that make these dolls look more like dolls ;)

How to work a picot stitch : Traditionally for a ch-3 picot, you work (ch 3, sl-st in 3rd ch from hook).  For a ch-5 picot, you will do (ch 5, sl-st in 5th ch from hook).
Here’s a great video https://youtu.be/8s3zVaBcn4s

Row 2 : sc + picot in the 1st fsc ;
*ch 1, sk next fsc, sc + picot in the next fsc* ;
rep *to* till the end.  Turn.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

This is what I have done, but after completion, I thought that this would work too.. so here’s a tweak in case you wish to try it..

Row 2 OPTIONAL : sc + picot in the 1st fsc ;
*ch 1, sk next 3 fsc, sc + picot in the next fsc* ;
rep *to* till the end.  Turn.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

In my mind, I *see* that the picot will be a ‘head’ on top of the shelled skirt and the fsc chain will form the ‘body’ of our little dancing doll.  So go ahead, and give it a try.

And that’s done.. yet another project brilliantly executed !
