Materials used : Today I’ve used some of our lovely (Indian)  Red Rose metallic cotton  yarn with a 1.75 mm crochet hook ; beads ; shells and more
You also need a hair barrette or a tic-tac hair clip headband or rubber band ; fabric glue ; embroidery needle / sewing needle to attach your little motif.

For Indians : You could use Anchor ;  Red rose  or unbranded knitting cotton as well
General yarn info : The yarn used today is not specific to this pattern.
You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.
As this is a delicate project, I'd suggest using thinner yarns.

International yarns :  Among the international yarns I have used in this thickness, I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn.

While trolling the web for flower motifs, I chanced on this lovely video by Maggie for a really lovely bunch of the Lily of the Valley flowers... and I so loved these cute little flower, and love how they turned out that I just can't help but photo bomb you !
The same project, different locations, different lighting and see how lovely it looks each time!  Go for it.. create and enjoy !

This is not my pattern.  I’ve used a photo tutorial that I found on the internet at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vkxbjRV2no and here’s the photo that inspired me.

Join me to see what I have done to make this into a hair comb / barrette topper.

I checked the internet to see the actual Lily of the Valley flower and found that there is a tiny stamen inside, so I decided to add a small pearl.  The photos below are the 'inside-out' ones.. i.e you turn your little flower inside out, attach the pearls and then flip it back again.

For that, once I’d finished making the flower with the tutorial, I added the pearl onto the centre ensuring it dangles towards the bottom of the bell opening.  So pass your sewing needle through the centre back, flip the flower inside out, and add in the pearl.  Pass your needle and thread through the pearl twice (at the point you want it to stay, securing it there), and then go back to the centre point of flower and knot up your yarn.  Lovely, isn’t it?

Finally to attach all your lovely lily of the valley flowers onto the barrette, you need a base.  So I worked a small foundation double crochet chain that was equal to the length of the barrette (or you could work a chain and then work dc back on that chain length as well).

I then sewed on each little flower onto the fdc chain, and finally attached the whole thing onto the top of the barrette.

Seems like a lot of work for something so small, but oh my Gawd, the end result is fantastic!  Yes .. yes.. photos galore.. but tell me.. how can you resist this?

And that’s done.. yet another project brilliantly executed !
