EASIEST BLANKET EVER

EASIEST BLANKET EVER

This is a really simple pattern that goes wavy and zig zag almost magically.
I’d say this is truly a must-try pattern.
Oh and the beauty is that it’s a one row pattern.. so come on along and let’s work on today’s pattern together.
The beauty of this pattern is not just that it is so easy - but that it makes a really soft and almost bulky end product.

Thank you for joining me.

Pattern Instructions (Using U.S. terminology)

Please note that I start all my rows with a ch 1, turning chain for ease.

Please check the top of this blog for easy video tutorials on all stitches used in today's pattern.  For your convenience there video tutorials through the blog too

Please read through all my notes before you pick up your hook, so you know just where we're heading in our pattern.

In my patterns I work with the principle of stitch count and body measurement.  This means that you need to work the stitch count in pattern, till you get the measurement (length and/or width) that you need for your project.

In our blanket today, we start with the first row in fsc (foundation single crochet) and then work side to side till we get the length we need for your project.

I've made a small security blanket today (14' x 17")

So I started with my first fsc row of 14" and then worked from side to side till I got the length of 17" to complete my project.

You can make this to any size - just get the stitch count right.

Please read through to the end, as I've given you ideas on using this stitch pattern to make scarf or a cowl as well.

Here is a simple video tutorial for this pattern.

In case this video does not come on, visit me at https://youtu.be/qpylaUkXBPA

Our stitch count for this pattern is in multiples of 3 + 1

Foundation Single Crochet : fsc : https://youtu.be/mcT85fwh4mA

Start Row 1 : with as many fsc in multiples of 3 + 1  as you want for the width of your blanket.  Turn.

Single Crochet : Sc : yo, insert hk into st ; yo (2 lps on hk); yo, draw through both lps.  One sc made.  Check out the video at https://youtu.be/ghACqBpA-3k
First stitch for Single Crochet : This is how I like to start my row of sc. Check out the video at https://youtu.be/6pVYRfsf4_M

Double Crochet : dc : yo, insert hk into st ; yo (3 lps on hk);
[yo, draw through 2 lps] twice.  One dc made.
Check out the video at https://youtu.be/xdnjB27zpYo
Chainless start for Double Crochet : I dislike the ch-2 / ch – 3 start, and this is what I do to start my row of dc.
Check out the video at https://youtu.be/wskv3iTjRx0

Row 2 : (sc + 2 dc) all in the 1st fsc ;
*sk the next 2 fsc, (to) in the next fsc* ;
rep *to* till the the last 3 fsc ;
sk last 2 fsc, sc in the last fsc.

In the following rows, you will work all the pattern stitches just in that sc every time.  It’s that easy.

Row 3 : (sc + 2 dc) all in the 1st sc ;
*sk the next 2 dc, sc in the next sc* ;
rep *to* till the last sc ;
sc in the last sc..

And that’s it… our pattern done ! How easy is this, right?

Rep Row 3 till you get the length you want for your creation.

More ideas
Now with this stitch pattern, you can make a scarf or a cowl as well.

For a scarf or wrap :
In case you are making a scarf or wrap, we need to run a row of stitches along the last row.  I'd suggest you work a row of sc in each st (as we started with fsc) and end it all off nice and neatly.
You can then add tassels to keep it all neat and add to the length as well.

Check out this video on how to make a  set of tassels ...

 and make some lovely patterns with the tassels ...

....or just to make curly wurly tendril like tassels to be different

For a cowl :
The only difference between a cowl and a scarf is that the cowl is joined at the ends, and the scarf is not.

So once you get the length you want for your infinity cowl, use one of the joining methods below to join the two ends neatly .. and ta da, you have a beautiful fluffly infinity cowl.

Whipstitch to join : https://youtu.be/wZ-9LNzftMA

Invisible join : https://youtu.be/a6XZQ6VzJFM

Single crochet to join : https://youtu.be/6FXoW_47_dI

Finishing ideas :
I suggest that for finishing, you could run a round of stitches all around for your blanket

If you decide to do this, then  work a row of sc / hdc or dc all the way down to the end ; work 3 sts in each corner and  2 dc in each horizontal bar of dc.

There is no stitch count for this section – just ensure that when you finish this row, it sits flat.

There is a lot of work that goes into writing one of these patterns, so do pay it forward – good karma and all that blah
