Double Crochet : dc : yo, insert hk into st ; yo (3 lps on hk);

Chainless start for Double Crochet : I dislike the ch-2 / ch – 3 start, and this is what I do to start my row of dc.

Start Row 1 : with fdc in an odd or uneven number for the width you need for your scarf / cowl or wrap.
For scarf or cowl, I'd say about 8" width would do
For a wrap, I'd say minimum 12" width required
Our lovely creation uses post stitches.
Front Post Double Crochet : fpdc : Post stitches are stitches worked around the post of a stitch of the row below.
How to work the fpdc : yo, hk into sp between posts of st from row below – going from back of stitch, around st and into the front of the st ; yo, pull yarn through the sps (3 lps on hk), (yo & pull through 2 lps) twice. One fpdc complete

Back Post Double Crochet : bpdc : Post stitches are stitches worked around the post of a stitch of the row below. Here is an easy video tutorial for the bpdc at https://youtu.be/l9Nt3miOs3s
Row 2 : dc in the 1st st ;
[fpdc around the next st ; bpdc around the next st] ;
rep [to] till the last st ;
dc in the last st. Turn
Row 3 : dc in the 1st st ;
[bpdc around the next st ; fpdc around the next st] ;
rep [to] till the last st ;
dc in the last st. Turn
You don't need to think much - you just work a bpdc around a fpdc from the earlier row ; and a fpdc around a bpdc from the earlier row. It's that easy.
Row 6 : dc in the 1st st & in each st till the end. Turn
Rows 7 - 11 : Rep Row 6
and that's our pattern done ! How easy is this, huh?
Rep Rows 2 - 11 for the length you need for your cowl / scarf or wrap
If you are making a cowl, end with Row 11, & use one of the joining methods given below to join the two ends of your cowl
